Background of the Study
Organizational change is an inevitable aspect of business operations, driven by factors such as market competition, technological advancements, and regulatory shifts. Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a crucial role in managing change by aligning workforce capabilities with organizational goals (Kotter, 2023). In Nigeria, firms like Flour Mills face significant challenges in implementing change initiatives, particularly in regions with limited resources like Yobe State.
Yobe State, located in northeastern Nigeria, presents a challenging environment for managing organizational change due to infrastructural deficits and socio-economic instability. For Flour Mills, successful change management requires a robust HRM framework that addresses employee resistance, enhances communication, and fosters a culture of adaptability (Ogunleye & Ibrahim, 2024).
This study explores the role of HRM in managing organizational change at Flour Mills, highlighting the strategies and challenges involved in fostering successful change initiatives.
Statement of the Problem
Managing organizational change remains a significant challenge for many firms in Nigeria, including Flour Mills in Yobe State. While HRM is recognized as a critical enabler of change, its effectiveness is often undermined by factors such as inadequate training, poor communication, and resistance from employees (Okonkwo, 2025).
In Yobe State, these challenges are exacerbated by regional constraints, making it difficult for Flour Mills to implement change initiatives successfully. This study seeks to critically analyze the role of HRM in managing organizational change and identify strategies for improvement.
